Welfare Activities
Ramakrishna Math, Barisha carries out diverse welfare activities that blend spiritual service with social upliftment, including running a Home for the Aged that shelters and cares for elderly residents in a peaceful environment, operating free medical dispensaries and health camps for the poor, conducting the Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa to provide education, nutrition, and hygiene awareness to slum and rural children, offering scholarships and financial aid to needy families, distributing clothing and essentials during relief work throughout before the year specially by distributing saris, kid wear , dhotis before Durga Puja and Blankets before winter to the poor and needy persons.
During the twin crises of Cyclone Amphan (2020) and the COVID‑19 pandemic, Ramakrishna Math, Barisha rose to the occasion by extending timely relief and compassionate service to the distressed. In the aftermath of Amphan, which devastated large parts of West Bengal, the Math mobilized monks, volunteers, and local youth to distribute food packets, drinking water, and essential supplies to families who had lost homes and livelihoods. Relief camps were organized in affected areas, ensuring immediate sustenance and shelter.
Simultaneously, during the prolonged COVID‑19 emergency, the Math undertook extensive welfare measures—providing cooked meals, dry rations, masks, sanitizers, and medicines to the poor and unemployed, while also supporting elderly residents in its Old Age Home with medical care and safety protocols. The monks encouraged people with spiritual guidance and moral strength, helping them cope with fear and uncertainty. These combined efforts during Amphan and COVID exemplify the Math’s mission of “service to man is service to God,” blending humanitarian relief with spiritual solace, and reaffirming its role as a pillar of support for the community in times of disaster.
